The world financial system is in the grip of the most severe crisis since the Great Depression, and working class people will be asked to pay for this economic disaster in a number of ways - higher prices for food and other necessities, millions of foreclosures and evictions, greater unemployment, growing poverty, government programs cut back or eliminated, and rising tensions throughout society.

Against this backdrop, Barack Obama's big victory last year has ushered in a new political era -- an end to the dominance of conservative politics, and the beginning of a period of renewed expectations and struggles for real change.

The TEXAS SOCIALIST CONFERENCE aims to provide space to debate and clarify strategies for change, learn from the history of previous struggles, and put forward a vision for the future. Join activists, progressives and socialists from across the region to discuss the key issues facing the Left today, as well as how we can build a revolutionary alternative to the capitalist system of war, racism and poverty.
